Ticket and Event Terms

These terms explain the specific rules that apply to event tickets: how they are sourced, described, delivered and used, and what happens when something changes or goes wrong.

1.The nature of event tickets

An event ticket is a right of entry to a specific event, issued by or on behalf of the organizer. It is subject to the organizer's conditions and the venue's rules as well as these terms.

These Ticket and Event Terms supplement our Terms of Use. Where they deal with a specific ticket matter in more detail, they apply to that matter.

2.Primary and secondary market

Tickets on the primary market are sold by the organizer or its official agents when they are first released. Tickets on the secondary market are resold after their first sale.

Important: Secondary-market disclosure

Many tickets offered on World Ticket Market are secondary-market tickets sourced by external ticket suppliers. World Ticket Market is not the organizer, and the tickets are not sold on behalf of the organizer unless the offer says so.

3.Face value and resale price

The face value is the price printed on the ticket or set by the organizer at first sale. The price on World Ticket Market reflects the market price set through the ticket supplier and may be higher or lower than the face value.

The price you pay is the total shown at checkout. Any refund an organizer offers may be calculated by reference to the face value rather than the price you paid; see the Cancellation and Refund Policy.

4.Inventory changes

Ticket inventory is shared and changes constantly. An offer you saw a moment ago may sell out, change price or have fewer tickets available by the time you check out.

Items in your cart are checked again before checkout and we tell you if an offer has changed or is no longer available.

5.Supplier confirmation

Important: Your order is confirmed only after the supplier confirms it

Every order request has to be confirmed by the ticket supplier for availability and price. Until we tell you the order is confirmed, it is not a final purchase.

Confirmation can take time. Your order page shows the payment status and the fulfilment status separately so you can follow both. If the supplier cannot confirm the order, the order is not completed and the Cancellation and Refund Policy applies.

6.Ticket-category descriptions

Each offer is described by a ticket category, such as a stand, a section or a seating level, together with any additional notes from the ticket supplier. The category in your order is what you are entitled to.

Unless the offer explicitly states a block, row or seat, the exact seat location within the category is allocated by the supplier or organizer and is usually known only when the tickets are issued.

7.Seating maps and illustrative materials

Seating maps, venue plans and photographs are for general orientation. Venues change their layout, numbering and configuration from one event to another, and a map may not show the exact location or view of your seats.

If there is a difference between a map and the written category description, the written description applies.

8.Sitting together

When you order several tickets in one category in a single order, suppliers generally try to provide seats together. Unless the offer states that seats are guaranteed to be together, seats may be split, for example in pairs, in adjacent rows or across a small area of the same category.

If sitting together is essential for you, check the offer notes before ordering, and order all tickets in one order rather than several.

9.Equivalent or upgraded seating

Occasionally a ticket supplier cannot provide tickets in the exact category ordered. In that case it may offer tickets in an equivalent category or in a higher category instead. You will not be asked to pay more for such a substitution unless you agree to it.

If the replacement is of a lower category or materially different from what you ordered, we will tell you and you may decline it. What happens next is set out in the Cancellation and Refund Policy.

10.Restricted view and special categories

Some tickets are restricted-view, standing, family, age-specific, members-only or supporter-specific, or come with other conditions. Where the supplier tells us about such a condition, we show it with the offer.

Please read the offer notes carefully. A disclosed restriction is part of the ticket you ordered.

11.Named tickets and the original holder's name

Important: A ticket may show another person's name

Some tickets display the name of the original holder or of a club member rather than the attendee. Whether such a ticket can be used by someone else depends on the organizer and the ticket type.

We cannot guarantee that every organizer or venue will accept a ticket in a different name. Follow the instructions in your order, which may include specific guidance on what to bring or say at entry. If an offer requires the attendee's own name, the attendee details you provide must be accurate.

12.Ticket transfer requirements

Some tickets are delivered by a transfer from the supplier to the attendee's account on an official ticketing platform. The transfer is sent to the email address or account details in your order.

  • Accept the transfer as soon as you receive it, using the same email address the transfer was sent to.
  • Do not forward transfer links to other people unless your order instructions say so.
  • If a transfer expires or cannot be accepted, contact us immediately with your order reference.

13.Club and venue application registration

Where tickets are issued through an official club, league, venue or ticketing application, you may need to install that application and register an account before the tickets can be delivered. The account must normally use the email address given in your order.

These applications are operated by third parties. Their availability, account rules and technical requirements are outside our control, but we will help you as far as we reasonably can if a problem affects your order.

14.Mobile wallet tickets

Some tickets can be added to Apple Wallet or Google Wallet. Whether this option exists depends on the organizer and the ticket type.

You need a compatible device with an up-to-date operating system. Add the ticket to your wallet before you travel and check that it opens without a network connection.

15.Electronic and PDF tickets

Electronic tickets, often as PDF files, are sent by email or made available through a download link. Save them on your device and, if the ticket instructions require it, print them clearly on plain paper.

Each barcode can usually be scanned only once. Keep your tickets private: if a copy of a barcode is used first, the original may be refused.

16.Physical tickets

Where physical tickets are issued, they may be sent by courier, delivered to your hotel or made available for local collection, as stated in your order. You must provide a delivery address or location at which the tickets can be received at the relevant time.

Some physical tickets, such as reusable club or membership cards, must be returned after the event. If your order instructions require this, follow them carefully, because failing to return a card may lead to a charge set by the supplier.

17.Hotel delivery

If your tickets are delivered to your hotel, give us the exact hotel name, address, check-in date and the name of the guest under which the room is booked. Tell the reception that an envelope will arrive for you.

If your hotel or travel dates change, tell us immediately. We cannot be responsible for tickets delivered according to the details you provided if you did not inform us of a change in time.

18.Local collection

For some events, tickets are handed over at a collection point near the venue or in the event city. The location, the time window and what to bring will be in your order instructions.

Arrive within the stated time window with the required identification and your order reference. Tickets that are not collected in time may not be available later.

19.Delivery close to the event

Many organizers release tickets only shortly before the event, and some issue mobile tickets only a few days or even hours before entry. As a result, tickets ordered through World Ticket Market are often delivered close to the event date.

Information: Late delivery is often normal

Not having your tickets weeks in advance does not usually mean there is a problem. If the tickets have not arrived when the delivery information in your order says they should, contact us.

20.Monitoring your email and account

Delivery information, transfer invitations and changes are sent to the email address in your order and shown on your order page. Check your inbox, your spam or junk folder and My orders regularly, especially in the days before the event.

Some transfers and collection arrangements must be completed within a limited time. We are not responsible for problems caused by messages that were sent correctly but not read.

21.Accurate attendee details

Where the organizer or supplier requires attendee details, such as full names as shown on an identity document, dates of birth or nationality, provide them exactly and on time.

Incorrect or late details can prevent tickets from being issued or lead to refused entry, and a correction may not be possible once tickets are issued.

22.Passports and identity documents

Venues and organizers may ask attendees to show a passport or other official identity document, especially for named tickets, certain competitions and age-restricted events. Each attendee should carry a valid identity document.

Minors may need to be accompanied by an adult or meet the venue's age rules. Check these requirements with the organizer before ordering.

23.Venue rules, dress and behaviour

Attendees must comply with the venue's and organizer's rules, including security searches, bag policies, prohibited items, dress codes, alcohol rules and behaviour. Security staff may refuse entry or remove anyone who does not comply.

Entry refused or removal for a breach of these rules is the attendee's responsibility and does not give rise to a refund from World Ticket Market.

24.Home and away supporter restrictions

Many football clubs and competitions separate home and away supporters. Tickets in a home section may be intended for home supporters only. Wearing the colours of the visiting team, or showing support for it, in a home section can lead to refused entry or removal.

Choose a section that matches the team you support and respect the segregation rules shown with the offer or published by the venue.

25.Prohibited resale, duplication and screenshots

  • Do not copy, duplicate, alter or share tickets or barcodes.
  • Do not publish ticket images or barcodes on social media or elsewhere.
  • Where tickets use a rotating or dynamic barcode, a screenshot will not work at the gate: use the official application.
  • Do not resell or transfer tickets where the organizer or the law prohibits it.

A duplicated or misused ticket may be cancelled by the organizer and lead to refused entry for every holder. World Ticket Market is not responsible for losses that result from a customer's breach of these rules.

26.Loss, theft and device failure

Keep your tickets and the devices and accounts that hold them safe. If physical tickets are lost or stolen, or if you lose access to a device or application account holding your tickets, contact us immediately with your order reference.

Replacement is not always possible and depends on the ticket type, the supplier and the organizer. The rules for lost, stolen, damaged or duplicated tickets are in the Cancellation and Refund Policy.

27.Event dates are subject to change

Sports fixtures in particular are often scheduled provisionally and confirmed later, and kick-off times can change for broadcasting or safety reasons. Concerts and shows may also be moved.

Warning: Plan travel with this in mind

Before you book travel and accommodation, consider that the date or time may change. Flexible bookings reduce your risk. World Ticket Market does not cover travel or accommodation costs connected with a change.

28.Postponed events

A postponed event is moved to a new date or time. In most cases, tickets remain valid for the new date and no refund is due merely because of the postponement.

If the organizer offers refunds for a postponed event, or if you are unable to attend the new date, what you can receive depends on the organizer's and supplier's terms and mandatory law. See Event postponement.

29.Cancelled events

A cancelled event is not rescheduled and will not take place. If an event is cancelled, we will contact you with information about the next steps for your order.

Eligibility and the refundable amount depend on the event organizer's and ticket supplier's applicable terms, the order status and mandatory law. See Event cancellation.

30.Entry refused by the venue

Venues may refuse entry for reasons connected with the attendee, such as missing identification, a breach of venue rules, supporter restrictions, behaviour or intoxication. These are not ticket faults.

If entry is refused because of the ticket itself, follow the steps in If a ticket does not work immediately, while you are still at the venue.

31.If a ticket does not work

Warning: Act at the venue, before you leave

If a ticket is rejected at the entrance, stay near the venue and contact us immediately.

  • Ask venue staff to check the ticket at a ticket office or customer-service point.
  • Photograph or record the error message where permitted.
  • Ask staff for a written note or the name of the staff member who refused entry.
  • Contact us with your order reference and keep your proof of attempted entry.

Do not share the barcode publicly and do not buy replacement tickets elsewhere unless we tell you to. A step-by-step version is in the ticket guide.

32.Contacting us promptly

Contact us as soon as you notice a problem, such as tickets not arriving when expected, incorrect details, a transfer you cannot accept or a ticket refused at entry. Many problems can only be solved before or during the event.

Reporting a problem late can make it impossible for the supplier or organizer to investigate or provide a solution.

33.Evidence needed for a claim

To assess a claim, we and the ticket supplier usually need:

  • your order reference and the event concerned;
  • the name of the attendee and the email address the tickets were delivered to;
  • screenshots or photographs of error messages or of the problem;
  • written confirmation or the names of venue staff where entry was refused;
  • the time and location of the problem.

Claims without supporting evidence may be difficult or impossible to pursue with the supplier or organizer.

34.Supplier and organizer decisions

Many outcomes depend on decisions of the ticket supplier or organizer, such as replacement tickets, category substitutions, refunds for cancelled or postponed events and the result of an investigation. We pass on your request and evidence and inform you of the outcome.

This does not limit our own responsibilities under the Terms of Use or your rights under mandatory law.

36.Contact and support

For help with an order, use the contact details in the panel at the end of this page and quote your order reference. If your problem is urgent because the event is about to start, say so in your message and tell us where you are.
